Field Trebuchet

The Bretonnians are a powerful army formed around a core of brave knights supported by scores of lowborn peasants. They are a warlike and valiant people who willingly seek out battle as a way of securing personal honour and pride. Any who invade their domain face the fury of their powerful knights; and few foes can match them on open ground. The knights range from the youngest Knights Errant, eager to prove their worth, through to the Knights of the Realm, defenders of the land. Rarer still are the Questing Knights, wandering warriors engaged in the quest for the Grail, and the legendary Grail Knights themselves, who have succeeded in their quest and sipped from their goddess' Grail, becoming imbued with fey power and longevity. Some knights ride to battle borne upon the backs of noble pegasus, flying high above the army to descend on their foes. When the knights of Bretonnia march to war, their men-at-arms march beside them, as do a levy of peasant bowmen drafted into service. The aim of a Bretonnian army is to ride down the foe, using their knights to crush all who would dare stand before them. The peasants' role is to support the knights by peppering the foe with arrows and to crew the mighty trebuchets. Regiments of men-at-arms march into battle to protect the flanks of their knightly lords, and to lend their weight of numbers to the fight if the knights' charge does not rout the enemy. All the while, the Blessing of the Lady of the Lake protects the knights from harm, surrounding them with a protective, mystical shield that wards off blows and deflects arrows and cannon balls alike. A well-constructed and orchestrated Bretonnian offensive will often smash straight through the foe, allowing the knights to wheel back around for a second, devastating charge.

The Field Trebuchet uses the following profile: A Field trebuchet can never be moved during the game, though it may pivot on the spot as normal.

Unless stated otherwise, a model does not have a special rule. Most special rules are given to a model by the relevant entry in its Warhammer Armies book. In addition, a model's attacks can gain special rules because of the equipment it is using. Similarly, a model might get special rules as the result of a spell that has been cast upon it or perhaps even as the result of it being in a particular type of terrain. Where this is the case, the rule that governs the equipment, spell or terrain feature in question will make this clear. Most of the more commonly used special rules in Warhammer are listed here, but many troop types have their own unique abilities laid out in their Warhammer Armies book. Certain special rules partly consist of other special rules, all mentioned in the following pages. Unless otherwise noted, the effects of different special rules are cumulative. However, unless otherwise stated, a model gains no additional benefit from having the same special rule multiple times. This also applies to unique special rules in the various Warhammer Armies books that might contain special rules that are normally cumulative. Some special rules have an effect at the beginning of the battle, or before the game starts. These effects take place after both armies are deployed and any Deployment special rules have occurred but before the roll for first turn. Some special rules, especially in the Army Books, will affect models of a certain type. Note that special rules and spells such as this only ever affect friendly units from their own army, and will not affect enemy or allied units that happen to be in range. Eventually you are likely to come upon situations where two opposing special rules are in play. In these cases, the two special rules will simply cancel each other out either partially or completely, and neither will have an effect.
