The mysterious, mist-bound isle of Albion is a dangerous place. On the one hand it is a land of endless opportunity, the battle-hungry eager to carve a niche for themselves into its hallowed ground. On the other it is a bleak expanse of moorland full of pitfalls for the unwary. The armies of Albion is filled with barbarian warriors and mystical creatures. The core of any Albion army comprises nobles in chariots and warbands of warriors on foot, screened by youths armed with slings and javelins led by the local chieftain. Poorer nobles and richer warriors are mounted on hardy native ponies and form the cavalry used to both scout and to support the noble chariot warriors. Ranks of spearmen and woad-painted heroes, droves of scythe-bladed chariots and enormous Mastodons bred for war emerge from village and dun to follow the Sun Banner of the old High King.

Albion

The Bretonnians are a powerful army formed around a core of brave knights supported by scores of lowborn peasants. They are a warlike and valiant people who willingly seek out battle as a way of securing personal honour and pride. Any who invade their domain face the fury of their powerful knights; and few foes can match them on open ground. The knights range from the youngest Knights Errant, eager to prove their worth, through to the Knights of the Realm, defenders of the land. Rarer still are the Questing Knights, wandering warriors engaged in the quest for the Grail, and the legendary Grail Knights themselves, who have succeeded in their quest and sipped from their goddess' Grail, becoming imbued with fey power and longevity. Some knights ride to battle borne upon the backs of noble pegasus, flying high above the army to descend on their foes. When the knights of Bretonnia march to war, their men-at-arms march beside them, as do a levy of peasant bowmen drafted into service. The aim of a Bretonnian army is to ride down the foe, using their knights to crush all who would dare stand before them. The peasants' role is to support the knights by peppering the foe with arrows and to crew the mighty trebuchets. Regiments of men-at-arms march into battle to protect the flanks of their knightly lords, and to lend their weight of numbers to the fight if the knights' charge does not rout the enemy. All the while, the Blessing of the Lady of the Lake protects the knights from harm, surrounding them with a protective, mystical shield that wards off blows and deflects arrows and cannon balls alike. A well-constructed and orchestrated Bretonnian offensive will often smash straight through the foe, allowing the knights to wheel back around for a second, devastating charge.

Warriors of Chaos

From the frozen reaches of the north come the Warriors of Chaos, an army of battle-hardened killers with hearts of iron and souls as black as coal. Hell-bent on slaughter and destruction, they fight for glory and the favour of their Dark Gods. Armed and armoured with hell-forged steel, these servants of the Ruinous Powers possess inhuman strength granted to them by their unholy patrons. Feared above all other foes, they are men of steel and fire, unrelenting in their dark and glorious quest to conquer the world in the name of their blasphemous gods. They are led to war by Champions of Chaos; unholy men who have willingly sold their humanity to the Ruinous Powers. These chosen warriors draw the gaze of the Chaos Gods as they slaughter in their name, and with great victories come mighty rewards, potent mutations and even immortality. Be warned, for though the path of Chaos can lead to a destiny greater than mortal minds can comprehend, it can also quickly result in insanity and death. After all, the capricious Gods of Chaos are nothing if not fickle, and the only certainty for those who swear allegiance to them is eventual damnation: Many are condemned to a gruesome end, twisting and deforming into a mindless Chaos Spawn. When a Chaos incursion comes pouring out of the northern wastes, the world trembles. Champions of the Dark Gods lead their warriors against the realms of men. Barbaric Marauder tribes stride through the snows with the names of their terrible gods on their lips. Alongside them march regiments of armour-clad Chaos Warriors, flanked by baroque-armoured Knights and a host of foul, Chaos-tainted monsters. Mighty Sorcerers weave terrifying spells of destruction. In the wake of these brutal armies comes the Realm of Chaos itself; bleeding ever outward until it threatens to engulf the lands of the sane in anarchy and misrule. The servants of the Dark Gods of Chaos never tire in their dark quest to drown the world in a tide of blood, and with every victory, the end of the world comes a little closer.

Marauder Chariot

Chariot (Armour Save 6+)

Split Profile In a similar manner to Cavalry, a chariot has more than one set of characteristics, one for the beasts, one for the crew and one for the chariot itself, and is treated as a single model. When moving, the chariot model always uses its own Movement characteristic. However, it may not pivot on the spot like other lone models without Reforming. The crew and the beasts use their own Weapon Skill, Strength, Initiative and Attacks characteristics when they attack. Each can attack any opponent that the chariot model is in base contact with, although the beasts can only fight enemies to the front. The Wounds and Toughness of the crew and the beasts are never used – hits are resolved against the chariot's Wounds and Toughness. It is the crew's Weapon Skill that is used for the purposes of the enemy rolling to hit, just as with cavalry. We assume the crew to be in complete control of the beasts that pull the chariot, so the beasts' Leadership is never used. Any missile weapons use the Ballistic Skill of the crew when making Shooting attacks. The crew can fire in 360 degrees around them, rather than only firing at targets within their front arc. This only applies to any missile weapons carried by the crew themselves; any missile weapons mounted on the chariot itself can only fire in the model's forward arc as normal. Armour Saves Many Chariots have an armour save detailed in their army list entry, which is combined with any armour the crew might have. Supporting Attacks Chariots cannot make supporting attacks – the rigid body of the chariot prevents other ranks from forcing their way through to attack the foe. However, Chariots in the second rank add +D3 Impact Hits to the chariots in the first rank. Character Mount Some characters can ride chariots. If a character has taken a chariot as a mount, the whole model is treated as having the troop type 'chariot' and follows all the rules for both characters and chariot models. A chariot mount otherwise follows all the rules for Cavalry in regard to Split Profile. If the chariot includes any crew in addition to the character, their armour saves are ignored when calculating the overall armour save of the model – only the character's own armour save is used. Special Rules Chariots are subject to the following special rules: Impact Hits (D6), Swiftstride. Some chariots are equipped with massive scythes and instead have Impact Hits (D6+1). This will be specified in their entry. Just as with cavalry, we assume that special rules that apply to the mounts do not normally also apply to the chariot or its crew, and vice versa. Remember though that there are exceptions, as detailed under the rules for cavalry. Ranks A rank of chariots needs only three models to count for rank bonus, steadfast and so on.  Terrain Chariots are primarily created to operate over firm, even ground. As a result, a chariot that finds itself moving through terrain is likely to have a very bumpy (and possibly fatal) ride. Unit Strength Chariots have a Unit Strength equal to their starting number of Wounds and add the number of additional crew and/or mounts purchased to their Unit Strength. Line of Sight Chariots have a Line of Sight value of 2. Base Size Chariots have an approved base size of 40x40mm, 50x50mm, 50x100mm and 60x100mm.

Core

You must spend a minimum of 25% of your points on Core units.  Core units are the heart of your army, the iconic troops who make up the bulk of every warband and warhost. Unlike other types of units, there is no maximum to the proportion of your points that you can spend on Core units. For every Core unit with the Expendable special rule in your army, you are required to include at least one other Core Unit without the Expendable rule.
