Warriors of Chaos

From the frozen reaches of the north come the Warriors of Chaos, an army of battle-hardened killers with hearts of iron and souls as black as coal. Hell-bent on slaughter and destruction, they fight for glory and the favour of their Dark Gods. Armed and armoured with hell-forged steel, these servants of the Ruinous Powers possess inhuman strength granted to them by their unholy patrons. Feared above all other foes, they are men of steel and fire, unrelenting in their dark and glorious quest to conquer the world in the name of their blasphemous gods. They are led to war by Champions of Chaos; unholy men who have willingly sold their humanity to the Ruinous Powers. These chosen warriors draw the gaze of the Chaos Gods as they slaughter in their name, and with great victories come mighty rewards, potent mutations and even immortality. Be warned, for though the path of Chaos can lead to a destiny greater than mortal minds can comprehend, it can also quickly result in insanity and death. After all, the capricious Gods of Chaos are nothing if not fickle, and the only certainty for those who swear allegiance to them is eventual damnation: Many are condemned to a gruesome end, twisting and deforming into a mindless Chaos Spawn. When a Chaos incursion comes pouring out of the northern wastes, the world trembles. Champions of the Dark Gods lead their warriors against the realms of men. Barbaric Marauder tribes stride through the snows with the names of their terrible gods on their lips. Alongside them march regiments of armour-clad Chaos Warriors, flanked by baroque-armoured Knights and a host of foul, Chaos-tainted monsters. Mighty Sorcerers weave terrifying spells of destruction. In the wake of these brutal armies comes the Realm of Chaos itself; bleeding ever outward until it threatens to engulf the lands of the sane in anarchy and misrule. The servants of the Dark Gods of Chaos never tire in their dark quest to drown the world in a tide of blood, and with every victory, the end of the world comes a little closer.

Each time the Blade of Ecstasy inflicts an unsaved wound on a model, that model must pass a Strength test or be removed from the game.

All enemy models in base contact with the bearer of the Beguiling Gem must take a Leadership test at the start of every Close Combat phase. Any model which fails is transfixed and may not make any attacks that round, and any attacks made against it by the bearer will hit automatically.

The bearer of the Pendant of Slaanesh can only join units that have the Mark of Slaanesh. No other character may join the same unit as the bearer and he cannot join units that already contain a character. Whenever the bearer, or his unit, take a Break test, it is taken on one less dice than usual. In addition, for each unsaved Wound the bearer suffers, he gains +1 Attack for the rest of the battle.

Any opponent wishing to strike the character in close combat must first pass a Psychology test before rolling To Hit. If the test is failed, that model cannot make any close combat attacks that phase. This does not affect Attacks that do not roll To Hit.

Monstrous Cavalry

All the Cavalry rules apply to monstrous cavalry.  Ranks A rank of monstrous cavalry needs only three models to count for rank bonus.  Supporting Attacks A monstrous cavalry model can make one supporting attack from the rider, and the mount can make as many supporting attacks as are on its profile, up to a maximum of three. Monstrous Cavalry without a split profile can make up to four supporting attacks. Special Rules Monstrous Cavalry are subject to the following special rules: Fear, Impact Hits (1), Swiftstride. Unit Strength Monstrous Cavalry have a Unit Strength of 4. Line of Sight Monstrous Cavalry have a Line of Sight value of 3. Base Size  Monstrous Cavalry have an approved base size of 40x40mm, 50x50mm, 50x75mm and 50x100mm.

Special Character

The Warhammer Army books each include the rules for several Special Characters within their pages. They are famous, named war leaders and mighty mages, tales of whose legendary (or nefarious) deeds have travelled far and wide, such as the Emperor Karl Franz, Grom the Paunch of Misty Mountain, the infamous Vampire Lord Vlad von Carstein and many more besides. Special Characters are exceptional individuals but, more importantly for our army selection purposes, they are unique – each can be included in an army only once.
