Vampire Counts

The Vampire Counts are fiends without equal. They seek to topple the civilisations of the living and supplant them with an Undead empire. Each Vampire is a unique and majestic figure with his own personality, drive and ambition. In contrast, their minions are mindlessly obedient – rank after rank of ragged and dirt-encrusted cadavers forced back to life by their masters' necromantic power. A Vampire Counts army arrayed on the battlefield is a frightening sight. Amongst the endless ranks of maggotridden corpses and clacking, rust-clad Skeletons come hideous and misshapen predators. The skies fill with the rustle of a thousand leathery wings as giant bats whirl and screech. At the heart of this nightmare ride the Vampires themselves, moonlight gleaming from their fangs as they smile in the anticipation of the slaughter to come.

Two hand weapons. This sword gives the Red Duke +1 Strength and +1 To Hit in close combat.

Golden Death

Heavy armour. The Armour of Blood allows the Red Thirst to regain Wounds automatically for every Wound, no roll is necessary.

The model can re-roll To Wound rolls of 1 in close combat.

Heart Piercing

Von Carstein or Blood Dragon only. At the start of a challenge, the enemy character selected to take on the Vampire must take a Leadership test before any blows are struck. If failed, the enemy model will fight with Weapon Skill 1 for the remainder of the turn.

Honour or Death

Blood Dragon or Strigoi only. For each unsaved Wound caused by the model in close combat, it can immediately make an additional Attack (to a maximum of +3 Attacks). These additional Attacks do not benefit from Red Fury.

Infantry

Ranks A unit of Infantry is required to be five or more models wide in order to be able to gain rank bonus. Unit Strength Infantry have a Unit Strength of 1. Line of Sight Infantry have a Line of Sight value of 1. Base Size  Infantry have an approved base size of 20x20mm, 25x25mm, 25x50mm, 30x30mm and 40x40mm.

Special Character

The Warhammer Army books each include the rules for several Special Characters within their pages. They are famous, named war leaders and mighty mages, tales of whose legendary (or nefarious) deeds have travelled far and wide, such as the Emperor Karl Franz, Grom the Paunch of Misty Mountain, the infamous Vampire Lord Vlad von Carstein and many more besides. Special Characters are exceptional individuals but, more importantly for our army selection purposes, they are unique – each can be included in an army only once.
